The ferries run every half hour and are owned and operated by the town of Frye Island. The ferry trip only takes about 7 minutes. Frye Island has an interesting history being named after Captain Joseph Frye. The legend goes that Captain Joseph Frye escaped from a tribe of Native Americans.
